Hydro-Québec (HQ) and Russian company Irkutskenergosigned have signed a two-year agreement to undertake research and development on hydropower generation and transmission.
As part of the collaboration, the companies will jointly conduct technical exchanges on hydropower generation and transmission and research in leading power technologies with help from Hydro-Québec’s research centre (IREQ).
Using information from Hydro-Québec’s technological innovation projects, the companies determined seven initial joint projects in generation and transmission.
The projects primarily include condition-based maintenance for turbines and generators and transformer service life.
EuroSibEnergo’s owner En+ Group CEO Artem Volynets noted that this cooperation creates new technology transfer opportunities for two leading hydropower companies, whose assets are located in very similar regions of the world.
“We believe that this collaboration will not only be beneficial for our companies but will also provide positive growth to the world’s power industry in general,” Volynets said.
Irkutskenergo will enable co-financing as well as license rights for the projects in Russia.
