German wind project developer Bard Engineering has installed a Dell storage solution to manage surging data volumes from the continuous monitoring and controlling of offshore wind farms.
With this new storage solution, the company now has a capacity of 120TB capacity, besides enabling automatic data accumulation as well as its calculation and analysis before moving it to archives.
Dell’s solution was deployed since amount of data collected from its wind turbines had grown significantly and the previous storage solution failed to tackle the automation requirements.
Bard Engineering IT head Andreas Fischer said that the company opted for Dell Compellent looking at its self-optimizing, intelligent storage functions.
“Combined with exceptional service and support throughout planning, implementation and operation phases, we benefit from a storage infrastructure that is proactively monitored by Dell and covered by a four hour on-site service support in the instance of any hard disk failure,” added Fischer.
Dell Germany storage sales director Andre Braun stated: “With advancements to the Dell storage and enterprise portfolio, an increasing number of customers are turning to our company for large-scale storage deployments.”
With Dell’s new solution, Bard Engineering can manage its growing data, alongside ensuring the long-term data can be economically archived in line with legal regulations that require a 20- to 25-year record of wind farm data.
