Aker Solutions has been selected by Caspian Drilling Company (CDC) for a contract to supply a complete topside equipment package for a new semi-submersible drilling rig in Baku, Azerbaijan.
In 2012, Aker opened a new facility in Baku to improve its service offerings in the region. Aker will build and assemble the equipment at its facilities in Kristiansand and Asker in Norway as well as in Erkelenz in Germany.
Caspian Shipyard Company will install and commission the equipment on the new drilling rig. Delivery of the equipment is planned in the final quarter of 2016.
The company had earlier delivered drilling equipment to eight drilling rigs operating in the Caspian Sea, while two of the rigs are semi submersible and operated by CDC.
Aker Solutions Drilling Technologies business head Roy Dyrseth said, “We are pleased to secure more work in Azerbaijan after making significant investments in our infrastructure in the region.”
