Voith, a German engineering services company, has secured a supply agreement for a portfolio of hydro projects with a total capacity of 40MW located in Department of Antioquia, Colombia.
As per the agreements, the company will supply four Francis horizontal turbines and four generators alongside governors, automation systems, and engineering, erection and commissioning supervision services.
The portfolio comprises of El Molino and San Matias hydroelectric plants of each 20MW. Voith claimed that the agreement would significantly reduce the environmental impact.
The two hydro projects are planned to be built in cascade form, under which the same water that passes through the first plant will be reprocessed to produce power at the second downstream.
