German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex has won a contract to construct the 17.5MW Manfredonia wind farm in Apulia, Italy.
Under the contract, Nordex will supply seven N100/2500 turbines at the site with installation set to begin in spring 2014.
A special purpose vehicle Eolsiponto, created by Capital Riesgo Global, a company of Banco Santander and Alerion Clean Power, is the investor of the Manfredonia project, which will generate about 40GWh of clean energy a year and curb CO2 emissions of some 40,000 tons.
Nordex board member Lars Bondo Krogsgaard said that the new contract, which the company won under the new auction system, is a good sign for its subsidiary in Italy.
