Canadian Solar has connected a 10MW solar power project to grid in Sihong County, Jiangsu Province, eastern China.
Developed by CSI Solar Power, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar, work on the project was started in September 2013 and grid connection was completed in December 2013. Gaochuangte New Energy acted as the EPC contractor for the project.
Canadian Solar chairman and chief executive officer Shawn Qu said: “This project is another good demonstration of Canadian Solar’s success in the development and construction of utility-scale solar power plants on a global basis as well our growing momentum in China, a rapid growing emerging market that is poised to become the world’s largest solar market in the years ahead.”
For the project, an approximate 40,788 CS6P-245P modules with power output of 245Wp were used.
The plant is expected to generate more than 11 million kWh of electricity on an average, which can displace 86,000 tons of coal consumption while eliminating 216,000 tons of carbon dioxide, 1,655 tons of sulfur dioxide and 1,241 tons of nitrogen oxides.
