Spain-based wind turbine manufacturer Gamesa has secured a contract from Greenko Group to supply turbines with a total capacity of 100MW for its wind farms being developed in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Rajasthan in India.
As per the contract, Gamesa will supply and install 50 of its G97-2.0MW turbines for the wind farms that are slated for commissioning in two phases: September 2014 and March 2015.
The company has also secured a five-year operation and maintenance contract for the wind farms.
Gamesa’s order from Greenko falls under the umbrella of the 300MW framework agreement reached in 2013, under which orders for 250MW for installation at various wind complexes have already materialised.
Greenko has currently 233MW in operation, 372.6MW under construction and more than 550MW in development. The company is developing 50-200MW sized wind power projects in a phased manner to ensure long-term reliable generation.
Greenko’s first phase of 101.2MW of the Rayala wind project in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh is operational and the remaining licensed capacity of 200MW is under construction.
The company’s first phase of 51.2MW of the Fortune Five wind farm in Karnataka is operational and the remaining licensed capacity of 158MW is under construction. In 2013, Greenko commissioned the 15MW Matrix wind farm in the state.
Greenko’s 120 MW Tanot wind project, located near Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, is under early stage of construction.
