With over 13 years experience in the renewable energy industry across 90 countries and six continents, SgurrEnergy has worked on a range of projects, from small remote power solutions of a few hundred kilowatts, right up to some of the world’s largest renewable energy developments.
SgurrEnergy has, to date, worked on over 160GW of renewable energy developments worldwide. These projects range from non grid connected power systems specially designed for remote locations and capacities of only a few hundred kilowatts (kW), right up to some of the world’s largest renewable energy developments with capacities of thousands of megawatts (MW). Projects include consultation and due diligence advice in all renewable energy technologies and offer extensive wind monitoring options, technical advisor expertise, operation and maintenance consultancy and noise impact assessment for wind farms and other installations.
Our consultants have worked on onshore wind farm projects across the globe including Europe’s largest wind farm, Whitelee wind farm near Glasgow, Scotland and a pioneering project in Inner Mongolia.
We have also been commissioned to carry out a comprehensive wind monitoring assessment for BT to develop a portfolio that will generate up to 25 per cent of its current UK electricity requirements by 2016, a scheme which will be worth around £250 million.
The company also has significant experience in offshore wind, advising as lender’s engineer on a number of offshore wind farm projects including Ormonde and Thanet in the UK, Thornton Bank in Belgium, and Q7 in the Netherlands. As an internationally recognised expert in the development of renewable energy projects, SgurrEnergy was engaged through the China Renewable Energy Scale-up Programme (CRESP) which is funded by the World Bank and the Global Environment Facility to evaluate multiple offshore wind sites along the Chinese coast. This work culminated in the production of the EU funded Offshore Wind Development Guidebook which will form a central part of the Chinese Government strategy for developing offshore wind projects for China.
We also provided technical due diligence to private equity firm Terra Firma in August 2009 supporting its $350m acquisition of EverPower Wind Holdings Inc. SgurrEnergy is experienced in delivering renewable engineering services in all technologies. We have been recently appointed by Infinis to provide technical advisor services throughout the construction phase of Glenkerie wind farm, near Biggar in southern Scotland. We have also been commissioned as solar technical experts for an eighteen month assignment to carry out knowledge management activities for multi-megawatt scale solar power projects in India on behalf of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group.
