Smarter Grid Solutions, a leading provider of distributed energy resource management software, is announcing the official opening of two research and development laboratories in its Glasgow and New York offices.
The laboratories are linked together to create a single virtual development environment, allowing its development teams on either side of the Atlantic to collaborate more closely than ever before. The investment in these R&D labs is to support the development of its next generation of products by allowing the firm to test the scaling of its technology to millions of distributed energy resource devices.
With its labs opening across two international locations, Smarter Grid Solutions can align its product development to global market developments and standards.
The opening of these laboratories comes hot on the heels of the firm celebrating its tenth anniversary. It has enjoyed immense success within the energy sector as its technology continues to be used in distributed energy resource management projects across the UK, Europe, USA and Canada.
Smarter Grid Solutions Chief Technology Officer, Dr Bob Currie, said: “The investment that Smarter Grid Solutions has made to establish the laboratories and a single virtual R&D team underpins our commitment to developing and releasing the next generation of our products.
“Having successfully transitioned from a project-led to a product-led business, these laboratories will allow us to accelerate our product development in the rapidly growing market for distributed energy resource management systems.”
Today the firm will showcase the capabilities of its US-based laboratory and its products at an event hosted at its New York offices. Over 60 industry representatives are set to attend the event, which will feature a panel discussion of energy industry leaders.
In the US, Smarter Grid Solutions recently announced several commercial milestones and deployments with major utilities in New York, Ontario, California and Arizona. In addition, Smarter Grid Solutions has completed several key innovative deployments sponsored by the US Department of Energy and New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), positioning the company at the forefront of the world’s most advanced markets.
Smarter Grid Solutions showcased its UK laboratory by hosting colleagues and customers at a similar event in its Glasgow headquarters last week.
