The federal government of Tajikistan is outlining plans to build six small-scale hydropower plants in the country by the end of 2013.
The planned projects are expected to have a power generation capacity range between 300 kW and 1 MW, alongside a cumulative capacity of 2MW, the Ministry of Energy and Industry reported.
The Ministry has planned to locate the projects within Tajikistan’s mountainous Gorno-Badakhsha region, according to hydroworld.com.
Meanwhile, the government is seeking funds from a mixture of domestic and foreign investments for the development of projects.
Currently, Tajikistan houses more than 300 small hydro projects, including the 9.5MW Varjob plant completed recently in January 2013.
