Voith Hydro has secured a €35m contract to provide generators and turbines for the 55MW Red Rock hydroelectric power project in the US state of Iowa.
The company will provide two vertical Kaplan type turbines with generators and automation systems. A joint venture between the Western Minnesota Municipal Power Agency and Missouri River Energy Services is developing the power plant.
Voith Hydro president and chief executive officer Kevin Frank said. “This is an exciting project that will provide MRES customers in the upper Midwest with clean and efficient hydroelectric power.
Construction on the power plant which will provide dispatchable power generation will commence next year with completion and commercial operation slated in 2016.
