South America’s Solar Markets on the rise. Brazil continued to grow at a strong pace of more than 1 GW per year in newly added solar PV installed capacity in 2018. Both main market segments centralized generation (utility-scale projects) and distributed generation (small and medium-sized projects gained momentum. The trend towards a renewable, decentralized and digital energy supply is clearly emerging. Generation, storage, distribution and consumption of energy must be intelligently interconnected in the future. This is where The smarter E South America – LATAM’s innovation hub for the new energy world – comes in.
In total, 2018 saw the installation of 1.2 GW in newly added solar PV capacity in the Brazilian market: 390.2 MW in the distributed generation segment and 802.7 MW in the centralized generation segment. By the end of 2019, the Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association (ABSOLAR) projects an additional 1 GW to be added to the grid, yet this time, spearheaded by the distributed generation market, which is expected to more than double in relation to 2018.
Considering both the centralized and distributed generation segments, the 10-Year Energy Plan forecasts a solar PV added capacity of 2 GW on average per year between 2019 and 2027.
New energy world at display
The global energy industry has been undergoing a radical transformation in recent years. The new energy world is renewable, decentralized and digital. The energy industry is in a state of flux. Renewable sources of energy are here to stay. Their rapid expansion is transforming the structure of the energy supply system. As energy from renewable sources is not always uniformly available, the generation, storage, distribution and consumption of energy must be intelligently interconnected in the future. The energy industry can only develop successfully and sustainably if modern technologies are employed effectively.
The smarter E South America – LATAM’s innovation hub for the new energy world – opens its doors to more than 20,000 visitors. More than 300 exhibitors from 11 countries will present their latest innovations, products and services.
“We are proud to be part of this success story and are looking forward to a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere on the show floor”, Dr. Florian Wessendorf, managing director of Solar Promotion International and Daniel Strowitzki, CEO at Freiburg Management and Marketing International, the international organizers of The smarter E South America, jointly state.
Three days packed with information, education and trainings
Information, education and trainings will be an integral part of the three-day event. The extensive conference program includes presentations from over 100 speakers covering all relevant topics related to markets and technologies, looking at the challenges of decentralized generation, net metering, taxation, grid connection, dissemination, funding and more.
“Brazil has an excellent solar power generation potential and is investing heavily in the development of the photovoltaic market. That’s why we couldn’t miss the biggest event in the industry, Intersolar South America”, quotes Diamond sponsor Sices Brasil.
Platinum & Webinar Gold Sponsor Portal Solar explains “This is the moment where we can meet our partners, customers and develop business. We always learn a lot, exchange information and make new partnerships. Those who work with solar energy just can’t miss it!”
The smarter E South America offers a comprehensive workshop program to train knowledge and skills. Exhibitors will display their products and solutions at the Innovation & Application where visitors are welcome to see latest innovations, industry trends, as well as workshops and educational trainings.
