China-based photovoltaic modules, solutions and services provider Trina Solar has agreed to supply modules to German solar PV systems provider abakus solar.
Initially, Trina Solar will supply equipment for three projects with a combined installed capacity of 18MW. These projects are located in southern England.
Construction of the three solar parks will be completed across southern England in the first quarter of 2013 and operations are likely to commence by the end of this March.
Of these large-scale installations in England, one is located on the Isle of Wight.
abakus solar CEO Thomas Sandner commented that the partnership strengthens the company’s association with Trina Solar.

Trina Solar Europe head Ben Hill stated, “We are delighted to be working with abakus, both on these projects in Germany and southern England and on many more in the future.”
Last year, Trina Solar installed over 8,600 multicrystalline PV modules for a 2MW pilot project on a former landfill site in Rietberg, Westphalia. The solar park is expected to cater to the power requirements of 570 households and likely to save 1,200 tons of carbon dioxide annually.
As part of the Rietberg project, for the first time, abakus solar used a mobile testing laboratory for quality assurance.
