US-based steel company Broadwind Energy has secured a $34m contract from an undisclosed US wind turbine producer to manufacture towers.
The company, in its statement, said that the towers would be manufactured at its Abilene, Texas facility.
Commenting on the contract, Broadwind Energy president and CEO Peter Duprey stated that the order would start to fill the capacity at its Abilene facility in 2014.
“This provides our tower business with better visibility further into the future. We continue to be pleased with the demand for domestically produced wind towers in the United States,” Duprey.
Braodwind Energy has scheduled the delivery of the towers in the fourth quarter of 2013 which is expected to extend into 2014.
