The American subsidiary of Enel Green Power has commenced operation of its 200MW Caney River wind farm in Elk County, Kansas.
The new facility, which includes 111 units of the V-90 wind turbine, brings Enel Green Power’s total installed capacity in North America to 986MW.The wind farm will generate about 765 million kWh of electricity per year, enough to meet the annual consumption of about 70,000 American households.
The facility will also avoid the annual emission of more than 580,000 metric tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. The electricity generated by the wind farm will be purchased by the Tennessee Valley Authority under a 20 year-contract.The power project was developed by Enel Green Power’s partner, TradeWind Energy.
